Powerscourt N.S. is a ‘Green School’
We are a ‘Green school’, this means that we are aware of the environment and we try to minimise the impact that we have on it through our daily activities. Green Schools are also known internationally as ‘Eco-Schools’.
We have achieved our flag for ‘Litter and Waste’ in 2015 which we focused on the 3 R’s – reducing (our amount of rubbish thrown into the rubbish bin), reusing (containers where necessary) and recycling (can we do something else with this item or make something from it).
Currently we are working on achieving our second flag which will be for Energy. We hope to be awarded our new Green Flag in late 2017 early 2018 as we are doing a lot of hard work monitoring our energy use levels.
The Green School’s Committee coordinator is Mr. Stephen Middleton.
